Crews responded to the fire at a single-family home at 23 Washington Street in Acton at 7:34 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, Acton Fire Chief Robert Hart reports.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy flames coming from the raised-ranch. The fire eventually struck a second alarm and required additional support from several neighboring departments.
Firefighters made entry into the home where the woman was found in a second floor bedroom, Hart said. She was suffering from injuries including serious smoke inhalation and flown to the hospital due to her condition.
The fire was contained in about an half an hour according to a Tweet by Acton Fire PIO.
The house suffered extensive smoke, fire and water damage to one corner and smoke damage throughout the home, Chief Hart said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
